MYPOST 6: What is your dream job?

A dream job can be said that the works that people have interests and passion to do even it will face many uncertainties, difficulties, obstacles, and failures.  To me, a dream job is a job that makes you feel happy, positive, anticipate about the future, gains valuable experiences, shares lessons to young generations and triggers you willing to wake up early to do it in order to make your dream become reality. If I have the precious opportunity to do my dream job, I wish to do a film director. This is because I love to do the filming and actualize my ideas and perceptions about something into a film in order to deliver meaningful lessons or reflect another side of society to the people.

Actually, there are only one reason I love to become a film director. Firstly, it can express my feeling, message, perception, or values about something into a film to audience. A film has a powerful impact on people to review themselves if the film is meaningful and informative. For example, in my life, I saw many people feel anxiety about working, lack of time to stick with their parents, loss of a job, betrayed by friends, and cannot pursue their dreams due to the current situation, all of these can be sorted into a film for people today as a message about life looks like weather, it will become a rainy day, windy day, or turns to the sunny day, you have to put the right attitude to face it and find the right way to express your sad and disappointment.  When you becoming old, you will realize that every setbacks or problem are temporary. If all of these make it into a film, it can let people self-review themselves to have the right mindset to face all of these problems.

If I have an opportunity to become a film director, I will self-direct and produce three films as inspiration, motivation, and reflection. The first film that I will produce is about learning disability and autism person story to TED talk. This story is starting from a person who has a learning disability problem, he needs to put extra effort to learn something. When he became a teenager, he saw a motivational speaker speak in front of people and it creates inspiration for him to become a motivational speaker by encouraging people to keep putting in faith into the works that you love. The intention to produce this film is to appeal to society today learn to respect, love, and show kindness to people who have learning disability problems. Meanwhile, it also encourages people that there are no limits and excuses can stop you to achieve your dream if you wish to do.

The second film that I will produce is about motivation film. This story is about a guy to pursue his dream as a performer on stage. He needs to work and study at the same time and cause him can practice his vocal and dance movements at midnight. He has a lot of experiences perform on stage but he faces failure while performing at a global talent competition. Due to aging and pressure from societal, he has to go to works like an ordinary person. Although the end story is a failure, the takeaway lesson is the true failure is the person that never starts to do it rather than the person willing to take the first step to do it.

The last film that I will produce is about reflection film. The story will start from a guy living in the year 2020 but due to falling in the swirl of time, he back to the year 2000. Because he cannot back to the year 2020, he has to stay at the year 2000 without smartphone technology, social apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and have to learn to live like people in the year 2000. When he backs to the year 2020, he realizes that invest times in social apps will miss out many things worth to do sometimes starts a conversation with a person better than typing in message, and overreliance on smartphone technology will cause people cannot live without a smartphone because it became part of their life. If need to live meaningfully, you have to control yourself to use smartphone wisely rather than let the smartphone distracts your attention.

In short, in this competitive world, it is undeniable that most of the people working for money instead of working for their dream due to pressure from society. In order to make a dream job become reality, we should have a clear vision and action to make it happens instead of staying comfort zone. As the quote goes by Jim Carrey, “You can fail what you don’t want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love.” Therefore, start to find your path today, you will discover that, you can achieve your goals which are beyond your expectations.

    1. Hi Martin, yes, I have tried to do a short video during my college life. It is complicated because I have to plan a timetable to do the video shooting and need to concern about weather and location factors. The most time consuming part is editing the video. This is because I have to make sure the subtitle is correct, the background music is match to the theme, and no plagiarism. Anyway, it is a good experience to me to learn to solve problem and train my flexibility to face changes.
