Life in Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Polytechnic 工艺学院的生活 (English Version)

Life in Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Polytechnics

In the year 2010, I had been offered by the local government to pursue my study at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Polytechnic. The course that I was taken is diploma in International Business for three years. It can be said that lucky because I can study the course that I want in Polytechnic as compared to form 6 in school. Nevertheless, due to environmental factors, it requires time to me to adapt the environment for completing the courses.

Environment in Polytechnic
In the first day of entering this college, I have the feeling that wants to quit the study because most of the students are Malays and Indians, foods around are spicy, and poor infrastructure in the hostel. Moreover, due to this reasons, one of the friends leave the college and find jobs for better salary as well. To complete the study, the first thing in my mind is to keep persistence and learn to adapt the environment. Meanwhile, this is also the first time to all of us leave family and go to polytechnic study, sometimes it is inevitable that grumble the environment is not suitable to us further study. Fortunately, my Polytechnic is around Shah Alam city, so it is convenient to me to travel everywhere for buying commodity goods and friends gathering.

To me, the facilities and infrastructure around Polytechnic are still in improving stage and substantial for diploma students combat their assignment. It needs time for students to adapt the environment in foods, rules and regulation, lecturing, and activities especially for Chinese students.

Academic
In my class, there are approximately 40 students and only one Chinese student same class with me for every lecturing. Due to this reason, lecturers are caring about us by guiding us in every assignment and presentation even provide advice in study life. The courses that I have taken in polytechnic are as follow:

The CGPA system in Polytechnic is similar to the CGPA system in the local universities. To enter local universities, high CGPA in Polytechnic is a must because students need to compete with STPM and Matriculation students.  It is stressful for polytechnic students in order to gain wanted courses in local universities. Due to lack of Chinese society and activity in polytechnic, most of the time I will spend in studying in order to gain marks in assignment and presentation as well.

For the person going to further study Polytechnic:

  1. Always passion in study, have faith in yourself
  2. Don't quit!
  3. Learn to adapt the environment
  4. Think twice before having relationship in polytechnic, learn to appreciate and grateful for his/her existence
  5. Respect lecturers and seniors, you will gain valuable experiences from them
  6. Take care of yourself, because life in polytechnic is totally different as compared to private college or other institution
  7. Smile always!

My thoughts:

The life in polytechnic to me is great in learning but moderate in socializing. Frankly, I have a lot of feelings that need to express after I have completed the study in polytechnic. It can be said that I don't have people called that college life because of the concentration in assignments, quiz, midterm tests, and examination. There is my fault in time management. Anyway, I have realized that academic is a standard to gauge myself in discipline and determination rather than good or bad students. Sometimes, we cannot expect the outcome is great but we can try to do our best to fight for the result that we want. Appreciate the people around us because when the time flies, it is hard to meet again.  Thanks for everyone that helping in my polytechnic life, wish everyone stay happy always in present and future!
